Truyện 8. Sự tích con Sam

Ngày xưa có hai vợ chồng một người đánh cá nghèo. Một hôm người chồng ra khơi với bạn nghề. Không may có một trận bão rất lớn nổi lên giữa lúc họ đang thả lưới. Không một người nào thoát khỏi tai nạn. Tin dữ về đến làng, tất cả mọi gia đình đánh cá đều đau khổ. Tiếng khóc lan đi các nhà. Riêng người đàn bà lòng đau như cắt. Như điên như cuồng, bà bỏ nhà ra đi, hy vọng tìm thấy chồng. Bà cứ theo bờ biển đi, đi mãi. Trải qua hai ngày đến một hòn núi lớn. Bà trèo lên rồi vì mệt quá ngủ thiếp dưới một gốc cây.
Đang ngủ bỗng có một tiếng nổ dữ dội. Bà choàng dậy thấy một ông lão đầu tóc bạc phơ đứng trước mặt mình, hỏi: -  Người là ai mà dám đến nằm trước nhà ta? 
Người dàn bà mếu máo đáp: - Tôi đi tìm chồng. Cụ làm ơn chỉ giúp kẻo tôi nóng lòng nóng ruột quá! 
Cụ già nói: - Ta là thần Cây. Thấy nhà người chung tình ta rất thương. Vậy ta báo cho biết là chồng người còn sống, hiện ở ngoài hải đảo.

Nói rồi, ông cụ trao cho người đàn bà một viên ngọc và bảo: -  Ngươi hãy ngậm viên ngọc này vào miệng thì sẽ bay qua được biển đế gặp chồng. Nhưng phải nhớ là nhắm mắt ngậm miệng kẻo rơi ngọc mà nguy đó.
Ông cụ nói xong biến mất. Bà ta lấy ngọc ngậm vào miệng và nhắm mắt lại. Thốt nhiên trời bỗng nổi gió ù ù. Bà thấy người như nhẹ bỗng, hai bên tai nghe tiếng vo ve. Được một lúc sau thấy chân chấm đất, bà mở mắt ra thì thấy mình đang đứng trên một bãi cát lạ mà gió bấy giờ đã lặng. Trông thấy chồng ngồi co ro trên bãi, bà mừng quá. Hai vợ chồng hàn huyên một hồi lâu rồi mới tính chuyện trở về làng cũ.
Người chồng ôm ngang lưng vợ để vợ đưa qua biển cả. Lòng người vợ sung sướng không thể nói hết. Vì thế, bà ta đã quên mất lời của thần Cây dặn. Miệng mắc ngậm ngọc nhưng bà vẫn cố hỏi chuyện chồng. Đột nhiên viên ngọc văng ra giữa không trung. Bà chỉ kịp kêu lên một tiếng rồi cả hai vợ chồng đều sa xuống biển. Rồi đó họ hóa thành những con sam.
Ngày nay, những con sam thường đi cặp đôi ở dưới nước, lúc nào con sam đực cũng ôm lấy con sam cái như khi chồng ôm vợ để bay qua biển.
Có câu tục ngữ ''Thương như sam'', là do truyện này mà ra.

Idiot

Once  upon a time, there was an idiot whose name was Ngoc. Ngoc had a wife who didn’t like him to stay home and do nothing. One day, when they were sitting by the other, his wife told: “Husband you can’t continue doing nothing. You must find a job to do if you want to live with me in long time” “Do what?” said Ngoc, “I don’t know write or read and besides, not smart as others so what can I do?” “Do business”, said his wife. “Business? What?” said Ngoc. “All things which bring to you benefit”, said his wife, “Firstly, you can buy and sell chickens and ducks. Later, you can buy and sell wood”. Few days later, Ngoc brought money and set off. He remembered his wife’s saying so that he found the way to trade ducks. He didn’t need long time to find what he need. A  man was good-for-nothing but he was gentle and good-hearted. He had a wife but she dead so early. He lived alone from that and his life also became poorer. Tu Thuc and wonderland

A  boy, named Tu Thuc, lived in Tran dynasty. He was offspring of a mandarin and was taught carefully. When he was 20 years old, he got passed all contests the king organized. So, he was appointed to be district mandarin. Not like other mandarins he liked freedom, hated rules. He also didn’t like to swarm others. He liked to drink, do poetry and go sightseeing. A large temple stood in the area he managed. Peonies were grown in temple’s garden and they bloomed in every January that was also the time the temple had a Buddhist festival. Story 3. Cong Uan Ly moved the capital

In  days of spring, 1010 Thai To Ly king and some courtiers went to his hometown on a ship. They went from Hoa Lu capital (Ninh Binh province) to Co Phap (now, Bac ninh province) on a ship. The king had delight as he saw the country seemed to change better. Fields were green and were going to give great harvests. Whenever, the ship arrived to a port, the king stopped to go on ground and had sightseeing and asked people about their lives. When the ship came to “Đông Bộ Đầu” port which was outside of Dai La citadel, the ship stopped, the king went on and realized Dai La was crowded place with convenient transportation. Dai La had been headquater of government when the country had been dominated by another country. Its name had been Tong Binh, had been rebuilt and repaired many times. Story 12: General Thuong Kiet Ly

His birth name is Tuan Ngo, an offspring of Quyen Ngo. He was borned in 1019 at Thai Hoa ward, Thang Long (now Hanoi). When he was child, he early showed brave and martial spirit what were inherited from his family who had been generals, dedicating to Ly dynasty. His father, An Ngu Ngo was also one of them he was a great general. When he was 13 years old, he lost his father and was taken care by his aunt and her husband. Tuan Ngo was taught by Cong An Ly, a royal great teacher at that time. His teacher complimented that he had talent but he headed to be a general instead of a mandarin. Luu and Death god

Nobody  could explain why people belonging to Luu family used to die early. Servants of Death god brought them away when they about thirty years old. The luckiest person ended his life as he was forty. Therefore, all people in the Luu asked the others to prepare for their deaths when they nearly thirty. While Luu family had young deaths, a fisher in La family had lived for three hundred years. He still had good health and had no sign that he was going to die. Thuong Luong

Thuong Luong was common name of creatures which are in people’s imagines. They are distant relatives of dragons. While dragons are worshiped as gods, the gods ruled rivers and sea and the gods can make rains, Thuong Luong is not respected as dragons that the creatures are too amorous, combative, wild, and have bad behaviors. All most of them like to harm people.
