1.      To be: am, is , are, were, was, being, been
2.      To have: have, has, had
3.      To do: do, does, did (Tại sao không có done)
4.      Can, could, will, would, shall, should, may, might, must.
1.      To be.

A. “To be” là trợ động từ trong các câu ở thì tiếp diễn và ở câu bị động. Vị trí đứng trước động từ chính. Trợ động từ được gạch chân. Bạn chú ý tới dạng thức của “to be” thôi nhé.
·        I am working  (Hiện tại tiếp diễn – Tôi đang làm việc.)
·        He is working right now; Is he working right now ?
·        They are working right now; Are they working right now ?
·        I was walking down the street when it began to rain.
·        I have been thinking about changing my major.
·        I had been waiting for him since four-thirty.
·        When my teacher retires next month, he will have been teaching for 45 years.

·        I am student
·        I was student
·        I have been student for three years (Tôi đã là sinh viên đươc 3 năm - Ở đây “have” đóng vai trò là trợ động từ còn “been” là động từ chính)
·        I am handsome
·

2.      To have

A. “To have” là trợ động từ trong các câu ở thì hoàn thành. Vị trí đứng trước động từ chính. Các từ được gạch chân đều đóng vai trò là trợ động từ, tuy nhiên bạn chú ý tới dạng thức của “to have” thôi nhé.
·        I have already seen that movie.
·        She has already seen that movie.
·        I have been sitting here since seven o’clock.
·        I had already left when he got there.
·        The police had been looking for the criminal for two year.
·        I will have finished my homework by the time I go out on a date tonight.
·        When my teacher retires next month, he will have been teaching for 45 years.

B. “To have” là động từ chính khi nó mang nghĩa là “có”.
·        I have a book.
·        She has a book.
·        I had a book.

3.      To do

A. “To do” là trợ động từ ở trong câu hỏi, câu phủ định.
Với câu hỏi dạng Wh-question:
·        What do you think about me? What did he think about me?
·        Where do you born? Where does she born?
·        When did you go?
·        Why did he go? Why does he go?
·        What do you do?  (Ở đây bạn nhìn thấy 2 từ “do”; từ đầu tiên là trợ động từ và “do” thứ hai là động từ chính)
Với câu hỏi Yes-no question:
·        Do you hear me?
·        Does she know me?
·        Did you do you homework?
Với câu phủ đinh:
·        I don’t like him.
·        She doesn’t like me.
·        They didn’t like him. (Ở đây chỉ có do, does, did làm trợ động từ, “not” không phải trợ động từ. Dù sao nên viết là do not; does not, did not cho bạn dễ hiếu. Nhưng thôi, lỡ rồi. J)
·

·        I do that thing/ He does that thing
·        I did that thing/ He did that thing
·        I had done that thing (Chỉ khi do làm động từ chính thì mơi có dạng thức là “done” thôi nên không có trợ động từ nào là “done” nhé.)
·        ….

4.      Can, could, will, would, shall, should, may, might, must.
·        I can swim.
·        I could swim like a fish.
·        I will/shall play football tomorrow.
·        I would go if I were you.
·        You should clean your room.
·        May I help you?
·        You must clean you room.
