220. Người Chết Đi Kiện

Ngày xưa, ở tỉnh Bình Thuận, có một người làm hương chức tên là Định. Một hôm, có trát quan về đòi đi gấp, xã Định cưỡi ngựa phóng nước đại lên huyện. Trên đường cái ra khỏi làng, có một ngôi miếu thờ bà, có tiếng linh thiêng lắm, bất cứ ai đi ngang qua cũng phải xuống võng, xuống ngựa, cất nón, nghiêng dù, bằng không thì bị bà vật chết. Lúc xã Định cỡi ngựa đến đó thì trời đã tối mới van vái: 

"Tôi phải đi việc quan đòi khẩn cấp, đêm tối tăm, xin phép bà cho tôi cỡi ngựa đi luôn, kẻo xuống thì trễ ra, lại sợ cọp nữa, để về nhà tôi sẽ cúng bà".

Xã Định khấn khứa xong rồi phóng ngựa đi luôn, xong được một lúc thì thổ ra huyết. Anh ta ráng đi xong việc quan rồi, trở về ngang miếu, lại thầm xin cho mạnh khỏe về đến nhà sẽ cúng bà một con heo. Nhưng về tới nơi, bệnh tình càng thêm nặng, xã Định tức giận thốt ra:

"Bà làm bậy, muốn bắt chết tao thì bắt, nhưng tao có chết xuống âm phủ thì tao kiện cho tới cùng".

Tính không sống được nữa, xã Định gọi vợ con lại dặn dò:

"Đến khi tao chết, phải nhớ chôn theo cho tao một trăm tờ giấy đại, mười cây bút, năm thỏi mực, để xuống âm phủ tao kiện mụ ấy cho biết tay".

Sau khi xã Định chết được ba tháng, không rõ thưa kiện dưới âm phủ làm sao, mà bà thần miếu đạp đồn lên nói:

"Làng hạ ngôi miếu này đi, thôi đừng thờ ta nữa".

Làng hỏi duyên cớ làm sao, bà thần đáp:

"Có tên xã Định mới chết xuống âm phủ kiện ta, nên ta không còn ở xứ này nữa. Làng đừng cúng tế ta nữa, ta phải bận đi hầu kiện luôn, cúng thì cho quỷ ăn mà thôi".

Làng nghe vậy chớ không dám phá miếu, rồi cách vài tháng đến lệ kỳ yên, làng giết heo cúng bà như trước. Xã Định mới đạp đồng lên cho ông tiên chỉ làng hay:

"Tôi đã kiện mụ ấy, mụ ta không được ở miếu này nữa, thôi làng đừng có cúng. Nếu làng không tin, cứ cầu ông địa lên hỏi thì biết rõ".

Làng mời thày pháp để cầu thổ thần lên hỏi, cũng nói như lời xã Định, mới gỡ ngôi miếu đi. Từ đó về sau người ta đi qua lại chỗ ấy không còn phải xuống ngựa, cất nón nữa.

Fairy Lieu Hanh

Ngoc  Hoang, the king of gods in heaven, had a daughter, named Lieu Hanh. Lieu Hanh was fairy who was headstrong and usually didn’t obey rules in heaven. Ngoc Hoang had advised her many times but he still did what she wanted. Therefore, Ngoc Hoang decided to punish his daughter to teach her a lesson.
