340. Tình yêu và đôi cánh

Ngày xưa có một chàng trai sống cô đơn trong ngôi nhà gỗ cạnh một cánh rừng. Một hôm, trong lúc dạo chơi chàng trai bỗng thấy hai chú chim non mất mẹ đang thoi thóp trong tổ trên một chạc cây. Lập tức chàng đem chúng về nuôi trong một cái lồng rất đẹp. Với sự chăm sóc chan chứa tình thương của chàng, hai chú chim ngày càng trở nên khỏe mạnh và xinh đẹp. Mỗi sáng chúng cất tiếng líu lo để chào đón chàng.

Một ngày kia chàng quên cài cửa lồng chim. Thế là một chú chim liền bay ra khỏi lồng, nhưng nó chưa bay đi hẳn mà lại lượn vài vòng quanh chàng như muốn chào chàng lần cuối.

Chàng trai buồn bã nhìn theo. Chàng không muốn phải rời xa nó. Chàng không muốn tình yêu của chàng bay mất nên khi con chim bay thật gần chàng liền với tay tóm lấy nó thật mạnh. Chàng sung sướng giữ chặt nó trong tay. Nhưng một lúc sau, chàng cảm thấy con vật yêu quý bỗng trở nên mềm nhũn trên tay. Chàng hốt hoảng xòe tay ra và bàng hoàng nhận thấy con chim đã khép mắt qua đời. Nó đã chết bởi chính tình yêu mà chàng dành cho nó. Chàng thẫn thờ nhìn con chim lẻ bạn còn lại trong lồng và bắt đâu mường tượng rằng nó cần được tự do bay vút lên bầu trời xanh thẳm. Chàng liền tiến đến chiếc lồng và nhẹ nhàng tung chú chim vào không trung. Nó lượn quanh chàng một vòng, hai vòng, rồi ba vòng. Chàng đón nhận niềm vui của nó bằng ánh nhìn rạng rỡ và trìu mến. Những muộn phiền trước đó không còn nữa. Bỗng nhiên chú chim dịu dàng đáp xuống đậu trên vai chàng và hót vang những giai điệu mượt mà chưa bao giờ trong cuộc đời chàng được thưởng thức.

Qua tiếng hót diệu kỳ kia, chàng trai chợt hiểu rằng cách nhanh nhất để đánh mất tình yêu là khi ta nắm giữ nó thật chặt. Trái lại, để giữ mãi sự yêu thương thì ta phải ân cần trao cho tình yêu một đôi cánh tự do.
