16. Godfather's the Death

In slums of a town a family lived. There had twelve children in the family and they were going to have the thirteen child. The father didn't know anymore people to become his child's godfather. Therefore, decided to invite a person he met on street to come and be his child's godfather. He went out in night and met the God first. God was wearing in nice clothes. On his head was a golden crown. Golden chains and rings were around his neck and fingers. The God knew the father's intention so before the father could say, the God said:
"Poor of you. Poor of you son. I'll be pleased to become your son's godfather. I will look after him and also make him to be the happiest person on the world."
"Who are you?" asked the father at one.
"I'm God man.", the God answered him.
"I don't want you to become my son's godfather God. You only care about wealthy people while the poor you ignore them."
godfather's the death, the death
He left after refused the God. He met another on his way. The person wore in black jacket. He had blood eyes, horn on his forehead, bat-like wings on his back and a pointed tail. He's a devil.
"Who are you looking for?" said the devil, "Do you want me to be your son's godfather. I can give him much wealth."
"Who are you?" said the father.
"I'm devil." said the devil.
"I don't want you to be my son's godfather." said the father, "You only swindle and charm people."
Then he left. He met the third, the Death. Whole body was dry bones covered in black hood.Through his mask was very cold blue eyes. The Death brought a scythe.
"Let me be your son's godfather." said the Death.
"Who are you?" asked the father.
"I'm Death." said the Death. "I always treat people the same way."
"Yes, you are the fairest. You treat all people the same way though they are poor or rich. You will be my son's godfather." said the father pleasingly.
"I will help your son have reputation and wealth as like my friends." said the Death.
"I will baptize him on next Sunday. Remember to come." said the father.
Then, they were apart. The father went back his home while set off to do his work.
The Death went on time and did his duty as a godfather then he left. He didn't meet the son till he grew up. The second time they met, the Death led him to an ancient forest, pointed at a plant.
"It's time to give you your present. I will help you to be a great famous physician. I will appear at the same time you meet your patients. Of course, only you see me. If you see me stand by their heads, you can tell their families that they will be cured, use this plant and cure them. However, you can see me stand by their feet. They are people I have to catch so you are not supposed to cure them. Tell their families that no physician on the world can cure them." said the Death, "Remember my words son. Don't do against them."
The son didn't need much time to be famous. His name was spread out largely. The only physician who just took a look to know the patient could be cured or not. Then, people from everywhere came to got cured. All of them paid him much. Short time later, he turned wealthy.
Meanwhile, the king of the country got ill. He was summoned to cure him. When he arrived to king's bed, his godfather had been there standing by king's feet. It meant no one and thing could cure him. However, he wanted more reputation and cured his king was one way.
"If I swindle my godfather, he must be very angry, but I'm his son so he will forgive me. I will try one time." she thought.
He waited for his godfather to leave then changed king's head to his feet's place. Later, he let the king drink the liquid made of the plant. When the Death reappeared, he couldn't catch the king because he was cured. The Death found the way to him. He glared him by his very cold blue eyes, pointed at him by the bone finger.
"You cheat me." grunted the Death, "This time I forgive you because I'm your godfather. But, if you dare to do the thing one more time, I will punish you."
godfather's the Death, the Death
The Death disappeared after that.
Short time later, the princess of country fell ill. The king had only only daughter so he's very sad. He cried too much that his eyes turned blurred. At last, the king decreed that anyone who could cure his daughter would be princess's groom and inherited the throne after he died. The son and other physician found the way to princess' bed. When almost of them left, the son came to princess. His godfather had been there and unfortunately, he stood by her feet. It meant the princess had to die and he, the son, should have remembered his godfather. But, the princess was too beautiful. He was charmed by her beauty, only stood by and admired her. Then, he decided to save the princess, didn't attend his godfather who was glaring him by cold blue eyes  raising his scythe. Hurriedly, he changed princess' head to her feet's place then let her drink the liquid. Princess' face went red. Slowly, her eyes opened. She was cured.
The son went to his home and waited for the wedding but he didn't had much time to wait.
The Death was going to the son's home. He's angry because he had been cheated two times.
"Your turn son. You have to die." said the Death.
The cold bone hand of the Death grabbed on the son's wrist tightly that made the son couldn't escape. The Death pulled the son followed him. They went in dark that the son couldn't image exactly where he was going. It seemed they went passed a long narrow ancient bridge which was over a black water river. It turned more dark at the end of the bridge. They come to an area barren, dark and covered by mist. The son groped stepping after his godfather. A half hour later, they went to a vast cave where place a lot of lamps. They are too many for anyone in world could count. The lights of lamps lit up the cave and created a magnificent sight. It's must be a wonder in the world of dead.
"Here you are." said the Death, pointing at the lamps "Those are life lamps. The lamps which have big flames on belong to children. Smaller belong to adults and the smallest belong to elder. However, it's not right for all, some of the smallest also belong to adults and children."
"Where is my life lamp." said the son curiously, thought that his lamp had a big flame.
"There." said the Death, pointed at a very little flame- lamp. It's flickering and nearly died.
"Omg! My dear godfather! Please! Pity me. Please give another lamp. I want more time. I have to marry with princess." screamed the son.
"I can not son." said the Death thoughtfully, "One lamp has to die before I light up another."
"So you can put my flame on a bigger lamp, can't you." said the son, "Think it will help my flame continue living."
"Yes. I can." said the Death, brought the son's life lamp, pretended as he was helping the son but honestly he didn't. He dropped the son's life lamp and it died. The son immediately fell down. He died and his soul was brought away.
